When we effort to change someone's mind, we create a wall between us. Now, more than ever, we are finding ourselves in this space of dissonance.
While we are all one, brothers and sisters, coming from the same place that is bigger than all of us and within all of us, we forget that this oneness is a linkage of differentiated parts. Once we can first, appreciate the difference between you and me, and second, be grateful for the universe within each of us and all around us, making us one, then we can coexist.
A lot easier said than done, no? This cycle of Presidential Elections is definitely a terrible example of this. And, the more we watch, the more our blood boils. And, the more we talk to ones rooting for the other candidate, the more we get angry, the more we angrily effort to change their mind and hit a wall.
If we can at least be mindful of such concepts (appreciating our differences and being grateful for our oneness), maybe we can be more at ease with each other and be happy. Because, it is from a place of happy and play that change can begin. Changing by changing our own perspective and exampling that.
Regardless, as David Ji says, the light will always shine through. So, no matter how hard you try to control the outcome of something, the light will always shine through.
